How The Subaru Crosstrek Keeps You and Your Passengers Safe

When the Subaru Crosstrek was completely remodelled for the 2018 model, it also came with increased safety features. As a result of the increased safety features, the 2018 model earned high ratings in all five crashworthiness tests, earning the 2018 Crosstrek the Top Safety Pick+ designation.

We’ve highlighted some of the things that make the Crosstrek deserving of its Top Safety Pick+ designation.

LATCH Ease of Use

This refers to the 2018 Crosstrek’s child seat anchors. The IIHS awarded the 2018 model with a Good+ rating in this category. The vehicle is equipped with two rear seats with optimal LATCH hardware. Each of these seats has a tether anchor at the top, which is easy to find and use, as well as two lower anchors that are easy to manoeuvre and require little force. In addition, a third seat in the middle has a tether anchor on top and can borrow lower anchors from either side.

Front Crash Prevention System

When equipped with EyeSight, the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek has a superior front crash prevention system. EyeSight provides four types of assistance to help prevent collisions. These are adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, pre-collision throttle management and lane departure and sway warning. The system meets the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s standards and helped the Crosstrek avoid a collision in high and low-speed tests.

Improved Headlights

The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek has an improved headlight system from 2017. In the 2018 model, they introduced Steering Responsive Headlights, which help driving visibility in darker driving conditions. Steering Responsive Headlights move in the direction you are steering, rather than pointing straight ahead. This helps you see better and farther around the corner, giving drivers more time to react to any potential dangers.

These headlights weren’t available in the 2017 model, which was a factor in the mode’s IIHS designation of Top Safety Pick. Having the improved headlights as an added safety feature was enough to offer the 2018 Crosstrek the Top Safety Pick+ title.
