Driving is a necessary and often enjoyable part of life; however, the road is also home to potential dangers. Equipping yourself with the best technology can be your best defence against dangerous traffic collisions. That’s why many Subaru models come with the Subaru EyeSight System that offers four different types of preventative assistance to drivers when it’s needed most.
What is the Subaru Eyesight System?
The Subaru EyeSight System acts as a second set of eyes to add peace of mind to your drive. With the use of two cameras, EyeSight monitors the activity on the road ahead to help avoid collisions and alert the driver of dangers ahead. When the Insurance Institue for Highway Saftey tests for front crash prevention, Subaru models equipped with EyeSight technology received the highest possible score.
The features that keep you safe
Adaptive Cruise Control
At Subaru, we know that traffic doesn’t always move at a consistent pace. That’s why our Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) feature can sense changes in the speed of the car ahead of you and alter your speed to keep a safe distance. With ACC, you can set both the cruise speed and the preferred distance between your car and the car ahead of you. When activated, ACC will adjust your speed to match the traffic ahead of you and speed up to your preset speed when traffic clears. It can even bring your car to a stop when traffic reaches a standstill.
Pre-collision Breaking
Subaru EyeSight is your best protection against a rear-end collision with the traffic ahead of you. With its Pre-collision Breaking technology, EyeSight analyses the speed of the traffic ahead of you and warns the driver of high closing speeds between vehicles. If the driver does not hit the breaks, EyeSight will slow the car for you, even to a standstill, if necessary. Moreso, if the driver hits the break but doesn’t press hard enough on the pedal, EyeSight will do the rest of the work to slow the car to avoid a collision. With EyeSight keeping watch for potential dangers, you can have peace of mind that you and your family are safe.
Pre-collision Throttle Management
When driving, there are a lot of factors you need to be aware of from the speed of traffic to the cars around you. That’s why Subaru’s Pre-collision Throttle Management is designed to cut power from an absent-minded start if it detects a potentially hazardous object is in your way. The Pre-collision Throttle Management feature will send off a warning signal to indicate a hazard ahead of you while reducing your throttle speed, giving you time to hit the breaks if necessary. Leave close calls and potential collisions in your rearview mirror with the Subaru Eyesight System.
Lane Departure and Sway Warning.
The Subaru EyeSight System protects you and your family from the dangers of unintentional lane departure. With its Lane Departure and Sway Warning feature, your Subaru will sound an alarm if your vehicle leaves its lane without signalling, warning you of potential dangers. Likewise, EyeSight will warn you if your vehicle is drifting back and forth within your lane to prevent you from encountering potential hazards. While EyeSight will not steer the car for you, its Lane Departure and Sway Warning can keep you out of harm’s way by identifying potential hazards and signalling to the driver to correct them.
