This blog post serves as a bit of a thank you to the Niagara Region, who have embraced us All-Wheel-Drive loving, snow enthusiast Subaru fanatics with open arms. We have had a little over a year in business and it has been an absolute blast. We thought we would take a trip down memory lane with a few highlights from our first year in Niagara.
We Opened Our Doors
This pic might not look like much, but the truth here is that it is really something. Featured in this image are Mark Falkenberg (partner in Subaru of Niagara), Jim Diodati (Mayor of Niagara Falls), Brian McMullan (Mayor of St. Catharines), Alex Digenis (partner in Subaru of Niagara), Jaydon Digenis, Kara Digenis, Hannah Digenis and Bones. So this pic features the mayors of St. Catharines and Niagara Falls at the opening of a dealership in St. Catharines. How does that make sense? Well, we set out on this journey to support the Niagara Region with great cars, unparalleled service and a big commitment to community. So far, we are sticking to our promise to be our best for you every day.
We sold our first car!
You may recognize these folks from their perch above the home bench at every Niagara IceDogs game. This is Bill and Denise Burke, owners of the Niagara IceDogs, with Alex picking up the first car ever sold at Subaru of Niagara. So what did they pick? A fully loaded black Crosstrek! An awesome ride for extremely awesome people!
We dominated the airwaves
If you listen to Newstalk 610 CKTB or its affiliate stations (97.7 HTZ FM and 105.7 EZ Rock) you will know that Alex is regularly on the radio talking about the Niagara Region. Well, it fits that one of the official cruisers is a Subaru Outback! And we have to say that we believe it is no coincidence that the map of Niagara looks so great on the side of that car!
We met a dragon
Bill Croxon from Dragon's Den talked about Alex in his address at the Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Awards breakfast! He talked about bringing non-domestic brands into GM country and showcasing the awesome that these cars are capable of. Talk about a draw-dropping experience, to have our very own Alex discussed by a leader in Canadian business... amazing!
Alex spoke at the National Dealer Meeting
The National Dealer Conference normally selects a veteran Subaru dealer to speak at the event, one that has plenty of years of experience to draw from in their address. In 2013 they shook things up a bit, what a huge honour for Alex, who had owned the dealership for a few months, to kick off the show!
We went to Greek Fest!
There was baklava, spanokopita, traditional dance and some of the nicest and most community oriented people you could imagine. This is an annual event that we don't miss, we love Greek Fest!
We Achieved our Customer Service Goals
The Subaru of Niagara Sales Customer Service Score is one of the top scores in the country. The Ontario average sits at around 91%, but Subaru of Niagara sits at 95%. Truly outstanding. Having amazing customers makes the great customer service thing a breeze, you guys are incredible. This particular milestone needs to have the names Josh and Shamil included. These two head up our service department and they are the delight team, as in, our customers rave about how much they love dealing with either one of them! Major cudos on running a stellar and slick service operation, we know they tell you everyday, but the Subaru client family is mega appreciative!
We cheered for the local boys
We made sure that the boys on the homepage looked markedly more intimidating than those on the visitors bench. This has us in stitches at every game... they are never happy about playing against the IceDogs!
We Sold Cars
We were told Be Subaru canada that our forecast was too aggressive at the start of the year. We actually hit our yearly goal in November a full 30 days before the end of the year... it is thanks to the guys above, to Jay (who started with us soon after this pic was snapped), to Sean who works on our financial services and to Josh who handles the service department. Here is a quick video of the big moment:
We introduced a lot of Niagarans to the beauty of a Subaru vehicle and demonstrated just how incredible these cars are for our climate. Great handling, fun to drive and safe. Good for the sportscar enthusiast, the commuter, the family and everyone in between.
Thanks for an awesome year Niagara, we love you guys!
