If you can't park, you can't drive anywhere. Whether you are a new driver or have been on the roads for year but still let parking get the best of you, Subaru of Niagara wants to help you with the basic parking methods so that you look as good parking your Subaru as you do driving it.
HOW TO REVERSE INTO A PARKING SPOT
1) Get into position
When you are reversing into a parking spot, your starting point is three parking lines ahead of the spot you want to reverse into. Move forward until that line is halfway through the front passenger side door.
2) Look around
Before you start reversing, look around to make sure there are no pedestrians, cyclists or vehicles coming toward you. This is also a great time to check your Subaru's back up camera to make sure everything is clear behind you.
3) Start reversing
Once everything is clear, start reversing with your steering wheel turned fully toward the spot you are aiming for.
4) Use your mirrors
Look often into your side mirrors as you back up. You are looking for the closest line of the parking bay to come into your mirror as a point of reference to guide you into your parking spot.
5) Keep watching
As your car turns into the parking spot, continue to watch your mirrors. When you can see both lines in either mirror, use them to guide you evenly into your parking spot. The slower the better.
6) Straighten the wheel
As soon as the lines become parallel in your mirrors, straighten your steering wheel and slowing finish reversing into the spot. Remember to adjust your steering as needed to keep your vehicle straight between the lines.
